Very nice aluminium 4.Batterie Reserve Flakabteilung 441 dog tag in used, but good condition.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in '4.Batterie Reserve Flakabteilung 441'. The abteilung was formed in the summer of 1939 and consisted out of 5 batteries. Schwere Bat.1-3 and Leichte Bat. 4-5. In July it was renamed in 'gemischte Flak-Abteilung 441(v)'. In 1941 the unit moved to the Caen (France) area. In Januari 1944 the unit was stationed on Fliegerhorst Morlaix (Bretagne) for air protection. In June 1944 it moved to Normandy where it saw fierce combat and was decimated. Pulled back from the front in October 1944 to be rebuild in December with 5 new batteries.
Interesting dogtag.
