Nice worn dog tag from a soldier who served in the 4.Batterie Flakscheinwerfer Ersatz Abteilung 43.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. The abteilung was formed in August 1939 in Wittenberg with 4 batteries as Flak Ersatz Abteilung 43. In 1941 the abteilung was converted in to Flakscheinwerfer-Ersatz-Abteilung 43. From December 1943 untill March 1944 parts of the abteilung was operationally used in Leipzig as part of Flakscheinwerfer Regiment 73.
A part from this period the unit was stationed the entire war in Wittenberg.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
