The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the '4.Batterie Reserve Flak Abteilung 343'. This unit was formed in October 1941 in Luftgau VI with 3 Schwere and 2 Leichte batterie. It was deployed to St.Malo, France. In April 1942 the abteilung was transformed in to Schwere Flak Abteilung 343. The 4th and 5th batterie became the 2nd and 3rd batterie of Leichte Flak Abteilung 978. A new heavy 4.Batterie was formed. In august 1944 the abteilung moved to Montélimar. In October it was stationed in the Vogesen.
