Very nice zinc Luftwaffe Flieger related tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served/was drafted in the 4.Kompanie Flieger Ausbildungs Regiment 21. This regiment was formed in April 1939 from Flieger Ersatz Abteilung 21. In Janurary 1940 the regiment moved to Deblin-Irena, Poland and in April 1941 to Reims, France.
In August 1942 it was renamed into Flieger Regiment 21, but in September it was used to form the Luftwaffen Feld-Division 6. In January 1943 it operated in Russia in the Luki area and then in the Newel areas.
In November 1943 the division was taken over by the Heer and renamed 6. Feld-Division (L). It operated in the Witebsk area until it was destroyed in June 1944 as part of Heeresgruppe Mitte. It was disbanned in August and the remnants where absorbed in the Korps-Abteilung H in Lithuania. In September this abteilung became the 95.Infanterie-Division. It operated in Königsberg, Memel and Pillau.
