Very nice Fallschirmjäger dogtag that belonged to a soldier that served in 4.Kompanie Fallschirmjäger Ersatz Bataillon 2. The bataillon was formed in early November 1943. It trained and supplied soldiers for the II.Fallschirm-Korps, 2 & 3.Fallschirm-Jäger Division. All saw combat during the Allied invasion in Normandy in June 1944.
After the invasion some saw action in the same areas like Arnhem,Nijmegen,Hürtgenwald,Reichwald,Battle of the Bulge,Eifel,Remagen.
The ersatz bataillon was stationed in Stendal in Januari 1945. In Febrauri of that year it was renamed in to Fallschirm-Genesenden-Bataillon 2.
