The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 4.Kompanie Bau Bataillon 212. This bataillon was formed in late August 1939 and was formed from RAD-Gruppe 91 and RAD-Gruppe 95. The bataillon saw its first combat during the invasion of Poland in September 1939.
In January 1940 the bataillon was renamed into Eisenbahn Bau Bataillon 212.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
