Very nice aluminium Wehrmacht Pionier related tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of war. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 4.Kompanie Bau Bataillon 210. This bataillon was formed in late August 1939 in Perleberg. During the invaison of France in May 1940 the bataillon was part of the 4.Armee. In April 1941 the unit was renamed into Brücken-Bau-Bataillon 210. In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia. During Operation Taifun that took place in October 1941 it was part of the 9.Armee. In August 1943 the unit was renamed into Pionier Brücken Bataillon 210. It was destroyed in the summer of 1944 in North Ukraine.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
