Both documents show overall normal signs of wear, but are solid. They where awarded to Heinz who served in the 3.Batterie Beobachtungs-Abteilung 24. The 3.Batterie was a Lichtmess-Batterie. This abteilung was formed in October 1935 in Chemnitz. It was part of the 24.Infanterie-Division and participated in the invasion of Poland, France and Russia. In 1944 the abteilung became part of the 18.Armee and operated in the Kurland area. In March 1945 it became part of the 9.Armee and operated on the Oder front.
Heinz was awarded the Eiserne Kreuz 2.Klasse on 20.November 1940. It was signed a General der Artillerie and the Ostmedaille was awarded on the 21.August 1942.
