Nice worn dog tag from a soldier who served in the 3.Kompanie Grenadier Ausbildungs Bataillon 90 (motorisiert).
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows normal signs of wear. The bataillon was formed in the summer of 1939 as Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 90 (motorisiert) and supplied/trained soldiers for the 20.Infanterie-Division untill This division saw combat in France, Bialystock, Minsk, Wolchow and Welish. In June 1943 the division became 20.Panzergrenadier-Division and fought in areas like Dnjepr,Shitomir,Brody,Schlesien and the Oder.
At the beginning of 1944 the bataillon only supplied men to Panzer Grenadier Regiment 90. The bataillon was moved to the Netherlands in September 1944 and became the II.Bataillon of Grenadier Regiment 1224 which was part of 190.Infanterie-Division. In 1944 it fought in Kleve,Reichswald and in 1945 in Venlo. It surrendered in the Ruhrkessel.
