Nice aluminium 3.Batterie Schwere Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung (mot) 290 dog tag in used, but good condition.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in 3.Batterie Schwere Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung motorisiert 290. The abteilung was formed in June of 1940 in Hamburg. It trained and delivered soldiers for 2 different Heeres-Küstenartillerie-Abteilungen, 6 different Artillerie Abteilunen and 5 different Artillerie Regiments.
In June 1941 the abteilung moved to Denmark and was used as occupation force. In October 1942 it was moved back to Germany. In October 1944 Abteilung 290 was used to form Artillerie-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Abteilung (motorisiert) 20 and in March 1945 the abteilung was mobilized and send to the Weser front.
The 'O' stands for the soldiers bloodtype.
