The document shows overall signs of wear, but is solid. The Assault Badge was awarded on 20 Juli 1942 to Paul who served in the 3.Batterie Artillerie Regiment 294. This bataillon was formed in Februari 1940 and was part of the 294.Infanterie-Division. In the summer this division, and its units, where stationed on the Channel Coast (France). In March 1941 they moved to the Balkans and Jugoslawien. On the 25th of June it participated in the invasion of Russia. It sw combat in areas like, Shitomir, Kiew, Charkov and Donbogen. It was destroyed in the Kischinew area.
