Nice worn Wehrmacht Schützen related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. The bataillon was formed in August 1939 in Meiningen as Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 66. In Februari 1941 the bataillon was renamed into Schützen Ersatz Bataillon 66. It trained and supplied soldiers for Schützen-Regiment 66 (later Panzergrenadier Regiment 66) which was part of the 13.Panzer-Division.
In Ocotber 1942 the ersatz bataillon was renamed Panzer Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon 66.
Soldiers of a Schützen Regiment are the ones you often see in the Sd.Kfz's (halftracks) and are part of a Panzer Regiment/Division.
Interesting Panzer infanterie related dog tag which is not easy to find.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
