The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 3.Kompanie Landesschützen Bataillon XV/X. This unit was formed in late August 1939 in Oldenburg. In April 1940 the unit was renamed into Landesschützen Bataillon 665. So this tag is from before that time.
The Landesschützen units had as main task to guard prisoner of war camps, fighting partisans and were used as occupation force. Later during the war they often became Sicherungs units.
The 'B' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
