The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 3.Kompanie Landesschützen Bataillon 472. This unit was formed in late August 1939 as Landesschützen Bataillon XXII/VI in Detmold. In 1940 the bataillon moved to Münster and in April of that year it was renamed into Landesschützen Bataillon 472. It stayed the entire was in Münster.
