Nice Flieger Ausbildungs Regiment related erkennungsmarke in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier that served/was drafted in 3.Kompanie Flieger Ausbildungs Regiment 51. This regiment was formed in April 1939 in Weimar. In Januari 1940 the regiment moved to Heiligenberg and in April 1941 it moved to Antwerp, Belgium. It was renamed in August 1942 to Flieger Regiment 51. Again renamed in June 1944 in Luftgau-Feld-Regiment Belgien-Nordfrankreich (mot. ) 51.
Untill September the regiment was stationed in Holland where it saw combat. The regiment was disbanned in September and absorbed in the 3.Fallschirmjäger-Division. This division and her units participated in the Ardennes offensive and in 1945 in the Remagen battles.
A new Flieger ausbildungs Regiment 51 was formed in Groningen in September 1944.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
Interesting dog tag.
