Very nice aluminium Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 3.Kompanie Ersatz Bataillon Infanterie Regiment 41. This regiment was known as Infanterie Regiment Amberg in the Reichswehr period and renamed in October 1935. It was part of the 10.Infanterie-Division. With this division it saw its first combat during the invasion of Poland that took place in September 1939. After that it moved to the west and in May 1940 took part in the invasion of France.
In November 1940 the regiment became a motorized unit. In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia and operated in areas like Pripjet, Gomel, Kiew, Bryansk, Moskau, Demjansk and more. In October 1942 the regiment was renamed into Grenadier Regiment (motorisiert) 41 and in December 1944 it was renamed into Panzer Grenadier Regiment 41. It was destroyed in the area of Litzmannstadt in January 1945.
The 'B' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
