The tag of 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 3.Kompanie Ersatz Abteilung für motorisierte Aufklärung Einheiten 4. This unit was formed in late August 1939 in Sondershausen. In October 1941 the unit was renamed into Kradschützen Ersatz Bataillon 9. It trained and supplied soldier for different units. It was part of Division 179 which, in April 1943, became the 179.Panzer-Division. In the same month the bataillon was renamed into Panzer Aufklärungs Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon 9.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
The tag comes with it's original neckcord.
