The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 3.Kompanie Eisenbahn Pionier Ersatz Bataillon 4. This bataillon was formed in March 1940 and fell under the Divison Nr.153. It trained and supplied soldiers for Eisenbahn Pionier Regiment 4. This regiment was formed in April 1940 and was put into action during the invasion of Belgium that took place in May 1940. Later in the war it operated in Russia.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
