Very nice aluminium Wehrmacht Bau related dog tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 3.Kompanie Bau-Bataillon 151. This bataillon was formed in late August 1939 and was part of the 1.Armee. In March 1940 the bataillon was disbanned, but straight after Bau-Bataillon I/XVII was used to form a new Bau-Bataillon 151. During the invasion of France the bataillon was part of Heeresgruppe C. After the campaign the bataillon probably stayed in the West the entire war.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
