The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the '3.Batterie Schwere Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung motorisiert 59'. This abteilung was formed in August 1939 in Brandenburg. Batterie 1 - 3 where stationed in Frankfurt. The unit trained and supplied soldiers for 3 different Heeres-Küstenartillerie-Abteilung, lots of Artillerie Abteilungen and 4 Artillerie Regiments.
The 'B', which is carved in by the soldier himself, stands for his bloodtype.
