The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 3.batterie Reserve Flakscheinwerfer Abteilung 439. This unit was formed in August 1939 in Wittenberg from parts of the III.Abteilung Flak Regiment 43 and operated in the Nürnberg area. In June 1942 the abteilung was renamed into Flakscheinwerfer Abteilung 439.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
