Nice zinc Wehrmacht artillerie related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 3.batterie Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung 227. This unit was formed in early September 1939 in Düsseldorf. It trained and supplied soldiers for Artillerie Abteilung 91, Artillerie Regiment 107,227, 306,371 and 385, Gepanzerte Artillerie Regiment 2 (from late 1942).
In January 1940 the abteilung was used to form the II.Abteilung Artillerie 233 which was part of the 196.Infanterie-Division. This division was put into action in Norway. Straight after a new Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung 227 was formed.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
