The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was draften in the 3.batterie Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung motorisiert 62. This abteilung was formed in late August 1939 in Dusseldorf and was a heavy (schwere) artillerie unit. It trained and supplied soldiers for a Heeres Küstenartillerie Abteilung, 4 Artillerie Abteilungen en 6 Artillerie Regiments.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
