The document shows normal signs of wear. The KvKII was awarded on 1 September 1942 to Franz who served in 2.Kompanie Pionier Bataillon 306 which was part of the 306.Infanterie-Disivion. This unit was formed in Ocotber 1940. The division was stationed on the Belgium coast from April 1941 till November 1942 when is was transferred to the east. It saw its first combat in the Don area. After that in areas like Mius,Nikopol,Nikolajew,Kischinew and was destoyed in Southern Ukrain in August 1944. The document is signed by Generalleutnant Hans von Sommerfeld
