Very nice Landesschützen Bataillon XVIII/III tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 2.Kompanie Landesschützen Bataillon XVIII/III. This bataillon was formed in August 1939 in Königswusterhausen. In April 1940 the bataillon was renamed into Landesschützen Bataillon 318.
The bataillon was punt into action in Ukraine/Russia. In December 1943 it saw action as part of Heeresgruppe A. It was destroyed in August 1944 in Southern Ukraine, but rebuild the same month in Rumania and fought in Budapest before it was destroyed again in December 1944.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
