Very nice aluminium 2.Batterie Schwere Artillerie Abteilung 602 mot.Z. dog tag in used, but good condition.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in 2.Batterie Schwere Artillerie Abteilung 602 mot. Z. This abteilung was formed in August 1939. It had 1 batterie with 10,5cm howitsers and 2 batteries with 15cm howitsers. The abteilung participated in the invasion of Belgium in 1940. Later it participated in the eastern campaign. It was destroyed in early 1943 in the South of Russia. Rebuild again in May 1943 as a light artillerie unit with le.F.H.18M howitsers. The 'mot.Z.' stands for 'motorisiert mit Zugkraftwagen' which means that the large howitsers were towed by Sd.Kfz.7. This where 18T halftracks.
The 'A' on both sides stands for the bloodtype of the soldier.
