Nice worn dog tag from a soldier who served in the 2.Ausbildungs Kompanie Pionier Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon 9.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows normal signs of wear. The bataillon was formed in August 1939 in Aschaffenburg as Pionier Ersatz Bataillon 9. It fell under Division 159 and in October 1942 under Division 409. It trained and delivered soldiers for 16 different Pionier Bataillons and 2 different Stellungsbau Rahmen Bataillone.
In 1944 the Pionier Ersatz Bataillon 9 became Pionier Ersatz und Ausbildung Bataillon 9 which makes this tag a late war produced one.
The 'O' stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
