The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 2.Technische Kompanie Jagdfliegerschule Werneuchen. This school was formed in November 1937 in Werneuchen (Brandenburg). In early 1940 the schule was renamed into Jagdfliegerschule 1.
In mid December 1941 personel and planes were used to form Einsatzstaffel/Jagdfliegerschule 1 which was used (in March 1942) to form the 10./Jagdgeschwader 1 'Oesau'. This 10th company was stationed in Bergen op Zoom, then Amsterdam-Schiphol and then Deelen.
In December 1942 the Jagdfliegerschule 1 was used to form Jagdgeschwader 101.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
