Nice zinc Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 2.Schützen Komapanie Infanterie Regiment 24. This regiment was formed in October 1934 in Marienburg. It was part of the 21.Infanterie-Divison and saw its first combat during the invasion of Poland in September 1939. After Poland it moved to the west and in Mai 1940 it particitpated in the invasion of Belgium and France. In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia during Operation Barbarossa and operated in areas like Tilsit, Volkhow, Ladoga and Pleskau. In October 1942 the regiment was renamed into Grenadier Regiment 24.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
