Nice zinc Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 2.Schützen Kompanie Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 319. This unit was formed in late August 1939 in Coburg. It trained and supplied soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 319 which was part of the 231.Infanterie-Division. This division, and her units, operated as an occupation force in Poland in September/October 1939.
In July 1940 the regiment was disbanned and was then used to form 2 Heimatschutz-Bataillone.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
