The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was draften in the 2.Schützen Ersatz Kompanie of Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 60. Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 60 was formed in late August 1939 and trainend and supplied soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 60 which was part of the 16.Infanterie-Division known as 'Der Windhund Division'.
The ersatz bataillon was used in late 1944 to form Panzer-Brigade 111. In December 1944 it was renamed into Panzer Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon 60. In April 1945 it became part of Panzer Ausbildungs Verband Westfalen.
