Very nice zinc Wehrmacht Pionier related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 2.Kompanie Pionier Bataillon 182. This unit was formed in December 1939 and was part of the 82.Infanterie-Divison. With this division the bataillon participated in the invasion of France in May-June 1940. From July till mid-February 1941 the division and her units where on leave . They where called up again in the second half of February 1941 and moved to the Netherlands to operated as occuptaion force. In early 1942 the divison was moved to fight in Russia. It fought in areas like Belgorod, Kursk, Woronesch, Kiev and Tscherkassy.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
