Very nice zinc Wehrmacht Landesschützen related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 2.Kompanie Landesschützen Bataillon VI/IX. This bataillon was formed in August 1939 in Hanau. In April 1940 the bataillon was renamed into Landesschützen Bataillon 606 and was transferred to Oberschlesien.
In April 1942 the bataillon became Transport Begleit Bataillon 606 and almost a year later into Transport Sicherungs Bataillon 606. It was part of Transport Sicherungs Regiment Ukraine.
In September 1944 the bataillon was put into action in Northen Italy (Villach, Bozen and Görz) as part of Heeresgruppe C.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
