Very nice zinc Wehrmacht Heer related dog tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 2.Kompanie Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon (motorisiert) 20. This bataillon was formed in August of 1939 in Regensburg. It trained and supplid soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 20. This regiment exisisted since January 1921! The regiment was part of the 10.Infanterie-Division.
In December 1940 the bataillon became motorized and in October of that year it was renamed into Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon (mot)20. In June 1944 the ersatz bataillon was used to for Grenadier Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon (mot.)20 and in December 1944 it became Panzergrenadier Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon (mot.)20. The bataillon was mobilied in March 1945.
The 'O' on both parts (and 1 on the back) of the tag stands for the soldiers bloodtype.
