Nice Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 2.Kompanie Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 318. This unit was formed in late August 1939 and trained and supplid soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 318. This regiment was part the 213.Infanterie-Division. This division was put into action during the invasion of Poland in September 1939. From the summer 1940 until February 1941 the regiment, and division, was on leave.
The division became 213.Sicherungs-Division in March 1941 and in June of that year participated in the invasion of Russia. It was put into action as an anti-partisan force.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
The tag is broken but solid.
