The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 3.Kompanie Fallschirmjäger Kraftfahr Ausbildungs Abteilung Helmstadt. This was a training unit situated in the city of Helmstadt where Fallschirmjägers were trained to drive motorised vehicles such as the Kubelwagen, motorbikes, but also Armored vehicles and (heavy) Halftracks which, for example, were used by Fallschirm Aufklärungs, Artillerie and Flak units.
On the net some information/paperwork can be found of Fallschirmjagers who were trained by this unit and later ended up in 1944 in France and Holland (Arnhem).
Uncommon to see is that the tag itself is partly unfinished when you look at the bottom hole and the slits.
