Nice zinc Division Füsilier related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served with in the 2.Kompanie Divisions Füsilier Bataillon 212. This unit was formed in August 1939 as Aufklärungs Abteilung 212 and was part of the 212.Infanterie-Division. In September 1942 the abteilung was renamed into Schnelle Abteilung 212 and in October 1943 into Divisions Füsilier Bataillon 212.
The 212.Infanterie-Division and her units saw their first combat during the second phase of the Invasion of France. After France it fought on the eastern front in areas like Leningrad, Wolchow, Pleskau and Lithuania were is was disbanned and used to form the 212.Volks-Grenadier-Division. This division was put into action in the Ardennes in December 1944.
