Very nice Wehrmacht Bau Bataillon related tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 2.Kompanie Bau-Bataillon 247. This unit was formed in late August 1939. It was formed from RAD troops as a Heeres unit. In March 1940 the bataillon was used to form Nachschub-Bataillon 549. It was put into action on the Western front in 1940. It was later put into action in Russia as part of Heeresgruppe Mitte (4.Armee and 9.Armee). In June 1944 the bataillon was destroyed and disbanned.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
