Nice Luftwaffe Flak related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 2.batterie schwere I./Flak-Regiment 491. This unit was formed in late August 1939 with 5 batteries. It was stationed in the Westwall area. From January 1940 the unit fell under the command of Flakgruppe Schwarzwald Süd. The 2.batterie was stationed West of Waltershofen. In June 1941 the regiment participated in the invasion of Russia as part of the 9.Armee.
In October 1941 the regiment was disbanned and was used to form the II.Abteilung Flak Regiment 49. It operated in Russia in central Russia, Rshew and got destroyed in the Vitebsk area in July 1944 and disbanned straight after.
The (large!) 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
