Very nice aluminium Wehrmacht Artillerie related tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erlkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 2.batterie Ersatz Abteilung Artillerie Regiment 168. This regiment was formed in late August 1939 and was part of the 68.Infanterie-Division. With this division the regiment saw its first action during the invasion of Poland that took place in September 1939. After that it participated in the invasion of France (May 1940) and in the summer of 1941 it took part in the invasion of Russia and fought in areas like Tscherkassy, Isjum, Woronesch and Beskiden.
The 'B' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
