Very nice aluminium Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 14.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 159. This regiment was formed in late August 1939 in Lüdenscheid. It was part of the 69.Infanterie-Division and with this division it saw its first combat during the invasion of Norway. It stayed in Norway until late November 1942 when it was transported to the Russian front. It fought in areas like Wolchow, Leningrad and Newel. In October 1942 the regiment was renamed into Grenadier Regiment 159. In the last stages of the war it sufferred heavy losses in the Königsberg area.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
