Very nice Wehrmacht M.G. infanterie related tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs fo wear. It belonged to a soldier who srved in the 12.M.G.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 209. This regiment was formed in August 1939 and was part of the 58.Infanterie-Division. It saw it's first combat on the 10th of May 1940 during the invasion of France by crossing the Luxembourg border.
After France the regiment moved to Hasselt, Belgium. In April 1941 it began preparing for the invasion of Russia. It saw it's first combat in the east on the 24th of June 1941. The division and her regiments fought in areas like Leningrad, Wolchow, Oranienbaum, Demjansk and Newel.

The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
