Very nice aluminium Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 12.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 205. This regiment was formed in August 1939 and was part of the 52.Infanterie-Division. This division saw its first combat during the invasion of France by fighting its way throught Luxembourg and Belgium. After France the division and her units were put into action on the Eastern front and fought in areas like Bobruisk, Brjansk, Moskau, Orel, Newel.
Due to heavy losses within the III.Bataillon (9.-12-Kompanie) of the regiment, the bataillon was disbanned in March 1942.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
