Nice aluminium Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 12. (MG) Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 15 mot. This regiment was formed in January 1921 as part of the Reichswehr as 15.Infanterie-Regiment and later as Infanterie Regiment Kassel. In late 1935 it became Infanterie Regiment 15 and from 1936 on it was part of the 29.Infanterie-Division. In September/October 1937 the regiment became a motorized unit. It participated in the invasion of Poland that took place in September 1939.
In the second stage of the invasion of France the regiment was part of Panzergruppe Guderian.
In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia and fought in areas like Minsk, Kiev, Brijansk, Moskau, Woronesh. It was destroyed in Stalingrad in February.
THe 'AB' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
