Very nice aluminium dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' in very good condition from a soldier who served in the 10.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 46.
The tag shows overall normal signs of wear. The regiment started as Infanterie Regiment Neumunster in the early 30's. In late 1934 it became Infanterie Regiment 46. This regiment was part of the 30.Infanterie-Division since October 1936. This division, and her units, where put into action during the invasion of Poland in September 1939. In early May 1940 it participated in the invasion of Belgium and France.
From June 1941 on it fought on the eastern front in areas like Illmensee, Demjansk, Ostrow and Kurland.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
