The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 10.Kompanie Landesschützen Bataillon III/XIII. This bataillon was formed in August 1939. In September 1939 it was moved to Poland.
In March 1940 the bataillon was used to form the II.Bataillon Infanterie Regiment 651 which was part of the 372.Infanterie-Division.
