The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 10.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 412. This regiment was formed in late August 1939 and was part of the 227.Infanterie-Division. With this division it participated in the invasion of Holland and crossed the border near Enschede and pushed through to the Grebbeberg line. After the Capitulation of the Netherlands the division and her units got the task to secure the French coast between St.Valéry and Le Havre. It stayed in France until October 1941 and was then transported to Russia where it fought in areas like Wolchow and Leningrad. Due to heavy losses the III.Bataillon Infanterie Regiment 412 was disbanned and not rebuild/reformed.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
