10.Kp/ Luftgau. Nachr.Rgt.6 EKM)

The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 10.Flugmelde Kompanie (II.Abteilung) Luftgau Nachrichten Regiment 6. This unit was formed in April 1938 as an Abteilung to support Luftgau-Kommando VI Münster. In July 1938 it became a regiment. In 1943 the II.Abteilung of the regiment was used to form Flugmelde Nachrichten Regiment 96.
Flugmelde Regiments were responsible for the enemy situation picture in their command area (in this case Luftgau 3). Enemy formations that were recognised were reported to the air reporting centres, where they were processed and made available to the air defence command posts. From there, the information was passed on to the responsible home air defence units, the anti-aircraft guns (Heimat Flak units) and the warning service (Luftschutz Warndienst) or their command posts.
The soldier of this tag carved in his own bloodtype 'Bl.A' which stands for Blutgruppe A.
