The overall condition of the document is fine. Shows signs of wear and it was cut, probably to fit a frame. The KvKII was awarded on 30 Januari 1942 to Karl who served in the 1./Kompanie Wach Bataillon 707. This regiment was formed in August 1940 in France from the III./Festungs-Infanterie-Regiment C and was stationed at the Atlantikküste. In the summer of 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russa and in June 1942 the bataillon was renamed into Sicherungs Bataillon 707 and was active in North Russia (Heeresgruppe Nord). It was part of the 281.Sicherungs-Division. In October 1942 the bataillon was renamed in to Sicherungs-Bataillon 797. In early Februari 1943 the bataillon became part (for 2 weeks) of Heeresgruppe Mitte and served under the 3.Panzerarmee. Later that month it became again part of Heeresgruppe Nord under the 16.Armee. In September 1944 the bataillon was disbanned and the remaining soldiers became part of the 23.Infanterie-Division.
