Nice worn dog tag from a soldier who served in the 1.Kompanie Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon 34.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows normal signs of wear. The bataillon was formed in November 1939 in Koblenz as Pionier Ersatz Bataillon 34. It fell under Division 172. It trained and delivered soldiers for different Pionier bataillons. In April 1943 the Ersatz and Ausbildungs units were combined and named Pionier-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Bataillon 34. In late 1944 the bataillon was used to form Reserve Pionier Bataillon 34 which became part of the 172.Reserve-Division.
